A vintage violin scroll is the starting point for this very sculptural piece. We filled the peg box with multi-colored epoxy resin and then carved the resin along with the maple scroll to define the snail's body. A gold luster wax has been applied to finish the exposed wood surface. The original finish on the remaining scroll part makes up the shell. The eyes are the ebony finger board which we have left intact. The scroll has been mounted to an oxidized hammered bronze foot, which allows the snail to be free standing when it isn't being worn. A customized pin back has been made using bronze (with our logo) and stainless steel, all of which is cleverly cold connected. A wonderful object. 4" long.
