A vintage ebony violin tuning peg is the basis of this lovely Lantern Fly brooch. It has been textured and  painted white, distressed, and is embellished with hand cut and pierced tortoise shell celluloid wings with a copper shield accented in green enamel paint. The body leg section is hand fabricated in brass, and  this fabulous bug is completed with green cat’s eye eyes. Fun and funky, this pin is fit with a stainless steel fibula pin stem allowing it to not only be great for lapels and sweaters, but also is great for shawl and wrap closures! It will also stand on a tabletop propped by the open pin stem.   3.5 x 2 x 0.5”.
